Lifetime driving bans, ignition interlocking systems and mandatory training are all on the table in Ontario, with stiffer penalties proposed for convicted impaired drivers.
The Ford government unveiled the proposed new measures Wednesday as part of a crackdown revolving around license suspensions, which will also include measures for stunt driving and auto theft.
"All it takes is for somebody to plan ahead, and call a taxi, call a friend. And it's so avoidable," Ontario Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said during a Wednesday press conference.
Jaden Lee-Lincoln reports on what the proposed legislation could mean.
