Former U.S. president Barack Obama joined current U.S. President Joe Biden, and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House on Tuesday as Biden signed an executive order to help improve the Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as "Obamacare") and Medicaid Tuesday afternoon.
Under the executive order, Biden said the ACA would allow federal agencies to expand quality health care and protect people from low-quality healthcare.
Biden also said the executive order would fix a "family glitch" that would allow for full family coverage.
The event is part of Biden’s effort to turn his focus to pocketbook issues that directly affect American households. While job growth has been steady since he took office, inflation is at its worst level in a generation.
With Obama back at the White House, Biden remarked that it "feels like the good old days," and made light of an Obama hot mic moment from the past saying "I'm going to sign an executive order right now and Barack let me remind you - it's a hot mic," he joked before the two embraced to the sounds of applause.
The event marked Obama's first public appearance at the White House since 2017.
