Shadow health and social care minister Andrew Gwynne says Labour "would have worked day and night" to avert the nurses' strikes and it is "incumbent" on the government to "pull every stop out to negotiate with the Royal College of Nursing".

Health Secretary Steve Barclay had earlier said he plans to "pursue legal action" over the Royal College of Nursing's upcoming strike action.
