Tennis star Novak Djokovic is being kept "as a prisoner" in quarantine in Australia, his mother said on Thursday, after authorities denied him entry to the country following criticism of a decision to exempt him from COVID-19 vaccination requirements for the Australian Open.
"It's just not fair, it's not human," Dijana Djokovic said at a news conference alongside other members of his family.
Supporters gathered outside Djokovic's quarantine hotel, lighting candles and holding Serbian flags.
The Serbian champion remained in Australia after his lawyers launched an appeal seeking to overturn the federal government decision.
