In Tamil Nadu, despite the state government withdrawing the permission to increase the seat occupancy in theatres from 50 per cent to 100 per cent, large crowds were seen outside a theatre in Chennai to book tickets. Social distancing norms were violated as fans tried to get tickets for actor Vijays's Pongal release "Master". The superstar had recently met Chief Minister E Palanisami.
