A strike by Nigeria’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has entered its seventh month. Talks have remained deadlocked as they say they will not return to class until their demands for better funding and working conditions are improved.
They say they will not return to class until their demands are met.
The stoppage has left the lives of about 2.5 million students on hold.
Frustrated by the prolonged strike, many lecturers have left Nigeria or their teaching jobs. Some of the students have also left, enrolling at private institutions.
