Nigel Adams, one of three Conservative MPs to confirm they are stepping down as members, has formally resigned from his role.

He announced on Sunday he was following the ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries out the door at Westminster.

The MP for Selby and Ainsty had previously said he would quit at the next general election.
