Nicaragua’s main opposition party has registered a former right-wing fighter and an ex-beauty queen to compete in the November presidential election.
Incumbent President Daniel Ortega is seeking his fourth term after a crackdown on opposition figures and has arrested at least seven presidential candidates.
The elections are taking place during a political crisis that began with protests in 2018.
