Police provided an update on Tuesday after a 28-year-old shooter killed three children and three adults at a Nashville elementary school on Monday before being killed by police, according to officials.
The Nashville school shooter legally bought seven firearms in recent years and hid the guns from their parents before the attack at a Christian school, the Covenant School, where the suspect killed three children and three adults, police said Tuesday.
Police said the shooter did not specifically target their victims during the shooting at the school on Monday. The suspect, Audrey Hale, was a former student at the school.
Authorities said Hale was not on their radar before the attack. Police say Hale was under a doctor's care for an undisclosed emotional disorder.
Nashville police previously identified the victims killed on Twitter. They are: Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age nine, Cynthia Peak, age 61, Katherine Koonce, age 60, and Mike Hill, age 61.
Police said Monday that the suspect had drawn a detailed map of the school, including potential entry points, and had done surveillance beforehand. They said they are reviewing a manifesto and writings from the suspect.
