Myanmar military coup: Senior official describes dramatic escape

A senior official from the National League of Democracy (NLD), the party of detained Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has revealed to Al Jazeera about how he fled the country, fearing for his life, after the February 1 coup.
Dr Sasa, who left Myanmar by taxi and motorbike over the mountains, has now been chosen as the special envoy of the committee representing the NLD to the United Nations.
For his safety, Dr Sasa spoke from an undisclosed location with Al Jazeera and said he thinks the army may now not be 100 percent behind the military government.
