Despite the ongoing concerns over inflation, Canadians are still largely invested in Ukraine's struggle to stop Russia's invasion though the percentage of people closely following the war has dropped compared with last year. Exclusive Ipsos polling for Global News shows 58 per cent still following the conflict compared with 74 per cent in 2022.

Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos, says it's less a case of fewer people wanting to support Ukraine and "more just a drift."

"As this thing goes on, the emotions tend to get a little less intense," he said. "The rational part of (people's) brain starts to kick in a little bit and they start to ask some questions."

While Canadians still back aid to Ukraine, with half surveyed believing the Canadian government is doing enough for Ukraine, the other half say Canada cannot afford to continue giving financial aid to the eastern European country.
