Mexico City overpass collapse: Hundreds demonstrate to demand justice for victims

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Mexico City on Friday to demand justice for victims of a rail overpass collapse that occurred on Monday night, killing at least 24 people.

People paid tribute to the victims, leaving flowers and playing music outside Los Olivos station, where the overpass collapsed.

Outrage has taken hold of Mexico residents after one of the capital's deadliest metro accidents in decades.

According to authorities, a preliminary review suggested that a failure in the horizontal support beams caused the accident. The crash has also raised wider questions about safety on one of the world's busiest metro systems, which carries millions of people daily across the capital's urban sprawl.
