An encampment at Montreal’s prestigious McGill University is growing as pro-Palestinian protesters — for the third consecutive day — are calling Montreal institutes to cut all financial ties with Israel in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Despite rising tensions with the school’s administration and demands from authorities to tear down their tents, demonstrators are refusing to move and say they’ll stick around until the school meets their demands to divest from all holdings that finance the Israeli military and are “complicit in the violence.”

Reps from McGill University say while students have the right to freedom of expression, erecting tents without approval is in violation of the law.
