Indian security forces fired tear gas at protesters in eastern Manipur on Wednesday during a demonstration over the killings of two missing students.
The protesters were marching towards the chief minister's residence before being dispersed by security forces.
Media reports said a curfew was imposed in the city to curb violence.
Manipur has been wracked by ethnic violence since May, and at least 180 people have been killed and thousands more displaced, since the Meitei and Kuki communities started fighting over the sharing of economic benefits and quotas.
