Popularly known as the 'Nutrition Man of India', Basanta Kar brought attention to the problem of malnutrition in India. During a discussion at the 12-hour Lakshya - Sampoorn Swasthya Ka Telethon, Basanta Kar, Chief Advisor cum Mentor, The Coalition for Food & Nutrition Security, said, "Focus should not only be on food, but equally on nutrition too. The Right to Nutrition is a very important thing to focus on. We have ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and other networks which can help spread the message of a balanced nutrition to everyone."
