As England’s new Children’s Commissioner tells Sky News that young people in care will be her 'top priority', we look at the impact being in the care system has had on those who have experienced it.

From drugs to self harm, sexual assaults to mental health problems, we ask whether the government is doing enough to look after our most vulnerable.

This report from Sky's Nick Martin contains references to self-harm, suicide and sexual assault.

- If you've been affected by any of the issues in this report, if you feel emotionally distressed or suicidal, you can call Samaritans for help on 116 123 at any time. Or you can email them at [email protected] in the UK.

- In the US, call the Samaritans branch in your area or 1 (800) 273-TALK.

- If you're a care-experienced young person who has been affected by similar issues, you can reach out to Become, the national charity for children in care and young care leavers. The charity has a care advice line on 0800 023 2033 and is open Monday-Friday from 10am to 5pm. Or you can visit them at visitbecomecharity.org.uk
