A total solar eclipse will cross over North America, giving people in 15 states the opportunity to see the Moon completely block the Sun.

The total eclipse will first appear along the Mexico Pacific Coast at 1807 GMT before moving towards Texas, Maine and into Canada. According to NASA, around 31.6 million people will be in the path of a total eclipse when the moon will fully block out the sun. The last total solar eclipse visible in the continental United States occurred in 2017 and the next one will not take place until 2044.

The eclipse will be visible in parts of Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
