Many parts of Chennai were waterlogged yesterday after 20 cm rain pounded the city. However, Chennai Corporation has denied there was complacency in monsoon preparedness including desilting of stormwater drains. The officials said that the city's infrastructure can carry only up to 7 cm rain and during abnormal rainfall it takes time to clear. They also added that it would take at least two years for northern and southern parts of Chennai to get stormwater drains. NDTV's J Sam Daniel Stalin spoke to, G Prakash, Greater Chennai Commissioner, to know more on this.
