Relentless snowfall across the Great Lakes region has begun to paralyze parts of New York state, and multiple feet of lake-effect snow is on its way to cripple Buffalo and the surrounding area, including Southern Ontario.

Lighting strikes, a phenomenon called thundersnow, which happens during extreme instability and is not associated with winter weather, were also seen over Lake Erie.

Global's chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell has more from West Seneca, New York, with more details on what's to come.
