King Charles faces calls to make changes to relationship with Canada's Indigenous peoples

Indigenous people in Canada have a special relationship with the Crown, including existing aboriginal and treaty rights recognized in the constitution.

But colonialism has left a long and complicated legacy. Now, there are calls for King Charles III to make changes. Sol Sanderson, a founding leader of the Assembly of First Nations, was born in the James Smith Cree Nation.

Neetu Garcha spoke with him about the tragic murders that happened there last Sunday, and why he believes the violence is rooted in Canada's colonial past.
