King Charles, Camila visit Wales for Queen Elizabeth service

King Charles III was greeted enthusiastically as he arrived in Cardiff, Wales for a service honouring his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles and his wife Camilla, Queen Consort, were greeted by a 21-gun salute ahead prayer service at Llandaff Cathedral.

Later the royal couple met with children and residents in the Welsh city, who came bearing flowers and other gifts.

The King’s trip to Cardiff is the last stage in a tour of the United Kingdom to acknowledge his status as the new monarch and to greet people mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth.

Welsh has a particular significance for the new king, who for five decades preceding last week accession had the title of Prince of Wales.
