During her reign, the queen was head of state for as many as 32 countries, but at the time of her death, just 14 remained outside the U.K.

And in those countries, the succession of King Charles III has prompted a royal re-think with a growing number asking if the time is right to abolish the monarchy.

Mariel Grant, a history professor at the University of Victoria, says she thinks King Charles III is going to try to convince people that it is valuable to have him as head of state.
