Murders of environment and land defenders hit a record high in 2020, according to a report from campaign group Global Witness.
According to the group, 227 people were killed while protecting land, rivers and natural resources.
Latin America, home to the world’s richest biodiversity, remains the deadliest place for environmental activists and defenders.
