Peel Regional Police have laid 12 new charges against an Ontario man accused of selling a lethal substance to individuals at risk of self-harm.

Police say all new charges against Kenneth Law for counselling and aiding suicide are related to cases in Ontario.

The update comes after British police revealed last week they are investigating the deaths of 88 people in the U.K., who bought products from Canadian-based websites allegedly offering lethal substances to those at risk of harming themselves.

The British probe is part of inquiries triggered by Law’s arrest earlier this year on two counts of counselling and aiding suicide. He is accused of using several websites to market and sell sodium nitrite — a substance commonly used to cure meats that can be deadly if ingested.

Authorities in the United States, Italy, Australia and New Zealand have also launched investigations into the allegations against Law.
