Kazakhstan crisis: Violence ebbs in wake of lethal force warning

As Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev keeps claiming the country's ongoing protests are driven by foreign-trained "armed criminals," he's now ordering troops to use deadly force on demonstrators.

Now, Tokayev's threats are also being bolstered with the help of Russia's military. Russia has a military presence in eight of the 14 states that gained independence from the former Soviet Union three decades ago, including Ukraine's Crimea peninsula, which it annexed in 2014.

However, the Russian-dominated Collective Security Treaty Organization says this mission in Kazakhstan is temporary. Redmond Shannon reports.
