July 11, 2022: Steve Bannon to testify in Jan. 6 probe, Biden, Abortion, UK’s Liz Truss, Sri Lanka

1. Donald Trump's former close adviser Steve Bannon has told the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol that he is ready to testify, a change of heart days before he is due to be tried for contempt of Congress.

2. U.S. President Joe Biden said he has asked his administration to consider whether he has authority to declare an abortion-related public health emergency after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

3. The death toll from a Russian rocket attack that hit an apartment block in eastern Ukraine over the weekend rose to 24, as rescuers continued to comb through the rubble in search of survivors, the State Emergency Service said.

4. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss entered the race to replace Boris Johnson as prime minister, taking the number of candidates in an increasingly bitter and unpredictable contest to 11.

5. Sri Lanka's president and the cabinet will make way for a unity government, the prime minister's office said on Monday, after tens of thousands stormed the official residences of both men, enraged by the island's worst economic crisis in decades.
