1. A U.S. congressional committee probing the deadly Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol voted unanimously in favor of contempt-of-Congress charges against Steve Bannon, a longtime aide to former President Donald Trump.

2. U.S. President Joe Biden and Democratic lawmakers are edging toward a deal on the scope of their cornerstone economic revival package and hope to reach a compromise as soon as this week, people briefed on the negotiations said.
