On Thursday, the district and sessions court in Islamabad resumed the hearing of a plea filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), regarding the alleged concealment of details about Toshakhana gifts.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ), Humayun Dilawar, presided over the hearing, during which the PTI Chairman's lawyers, Niazullah Niazi, and the ECP's lawyer, Amjad Pervez, appeared before the court to present their arguments.

The ECP's counsel concluded their arguments in the case. PTI Chairman's lawyer, Niazi, stated that there were pending appeals of the former prime minister in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the Supreme Court (SC). He requested the court to await the final decision on those cases before proceeding.

ADSJ Humayun Dilawar informed Niazi that he had instructed PTI counsel Khawaja Haris to complete their arguments by Friday. Niazi acknowledged that and mentioned that they were also dealing with Toshakhana gifts cases in other courts.

The ADSJ asked the ECP's lawyer to present their final arguments in the case. Amjad Pervez, representing the Election Commission, stated that the Toshakhana gifts and their record, along with the issue of gift identification, were before the court. The PTI chairman had admitted to receiving 58 gifts while serving as the prime minister and disclosed that they included watches and valuable mobiles, amounting to Rs 21.66 million. He also mentioned that the chairman had paid 20 percent of the gifts' value for 2018-19.

Pervez pointed out that Form B did not mention anything about jewelry or valuable gifts. Although the word "Toshakhana" was mentioned in the tax return, the gifts from Toshakhana were not listed in Form B. He also mentioned that the PTI chairman did not own any vehicles according to Form B.

Judge Humayun Dilawar informed the PTI lawyer that Friday would be the last day for final arguments. The ADSJ advised them to be aware that all arguments would be concluded on that day, and if the application was accepted, the matter would be resolved. Otherwise, they should proceed with their final arguments.

Subsequently, Judge Humayun Dilawar adjourned the hearing of the Toshakhana case until 11:30.
