Liz Truss resigned as UK prime minister after a brief and chaotic tenure that saw her announce a massive package of unfunded tax cuts before unwinding most of it in the face of a market rout. "Penny Mordaunt is a more experienced politician. It has come too soon for Rishi Sunak. I think if there are only two candidates, Penny will get the job. Jeremy Hunt is the most likely person to get the job," said Lord Meghnad Desai from the London School of Economics.
