This week we learned of two separate cases of Nova Scotia women who died after sitting in the ER, both for more than six hours. One a mother of three, the other a grandmother, their cases show us the human cost of an HR crisis in hospital ERs that's shaking the trust of Canadians. Ross Lord has more.

Friday is an important day for Indigenous survivors traumatized by Canada’s day-school system. The deadline to apply to be part of a class-action lawsuit to be compensated for the years of abuse they suffered in those institutions is set at midnight tonight. As Neetu Garcha explains, it’s a task easier said than done as they’re forced to re-live their agonizing experiences.

It’s been a little more than four months since Pierre Poilievre took the reigns of the federal Conservative Party of Canada. Since then, the new Tory leader has made it a habit of not speaking regularly with large media outlets, but today Poilievre did agree to speak to Global News.

A major storm system hit the southern U.S. Thursday and spawned reports of at least 35 tornadoes across several states. At least nine people were killed by the severe weather in Alabama’s historic city of Selma, which wasn’t spared from devastation after a large tornado ripped through the key symbol of the 1960s civil rights movement. Ukraine is denying Russian claims that its troops have captured the key salt-mining town of Soledar. If true, it is the first battlefield victory for the Kremlin in months. It would also give Russia a new staging point for the bigger battle over the Donbass region in the east. As Crystal Goomansingh reports, it’s also the second time this week the Russians have made the bold claim.

She was famous from the day she was born. The only child of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley died Thursday night at just 54 years old, after she had reportedly gone into cardiac arrest. As Mike Armstrong explains, hers was a life lived weathering multiple tragedies to the point where Presley herself said she was lucky to have made it as far as she did.
