Jack Straw recalls Alistair Darling rescuing banking system 'as economy survived'

Former Foreign and Home Secretary Jack Straw has paid his respects to Alistair Darling, who has died at the age of 70.

He described Lord Darling as someone as "what you saw was what you got" and that was "one of his very, very great strengths".

He added: "He had a wonderful, wicked sense of humour. He was completely reliable and he was a great gossip in private. He was the best of friends to have in politics."
