Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano, lit up the night sky on Friday with spectacular eruptions.
Long streams of red-hot lava flowed down the south-eastern crater of the 3,330 metre volcano.
Mount Etna often erupts but rarely causes damage and is believed to have the longest written record of eruptions – more than any other volcano -- with its first recorded observation going back to 425 BC.
