Israel protests: Tens of thousands gather as demonstrations enter 15th week

The protests against proposed judicial reforms by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government entered their 15th consecutive week on Sunday, with tens of thousands taking to Tel Aviv's streets chanting "democracy" and waving Israeli flags.

""I'm here because I'm afraid for my freedom, for my children's future and I think we have to stand up and to save our country," protester Hila Shinyuk said.

Israel's central bank and senior officials in the country's finance ministry have warned the judicial overhaul would impact investor sentiment and may hurt the economy. As protests continued, the government also rebuffed a credit ratings agency Moody's decision to revise its outlook on Israel to stable from positive. Netanyahu, however, has said the reforms were necessary to rein in what he claimed were activist judges who have interfered in political decision-making.
