The US is "surging" extra military assistance to Israel, says US president Joe Biden.

He explains this will include ammunition and "interceptors to replenish the iron dome".

"We are going to make sure that Israel does not run out of these critical assets to defend its cities and its citizens," he says.

Congress will be asked to take "urgent action" to fund the national security requirements of America's "critical partners" once it returns, he adds.
