The man in charge of Israel's military intelligence on the day of the 7 October Hamas attacks has resigned.

Major General Aharon Haliva said he would carry the pain for what happened for the rest of his life.

He was one of several senior commanders who said they failed to predict and prevent the attack.

Separately, an independent report commissioned over allegations 12 UNRWA employees took part in the Hamas attacks has found Israel had not expressed concerns about anyone on the agency staff lists it gets annually for more than a decade.
