Israel-Hamas war: Police should be 'sharper' in dealing with extremism

Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley has told Trevor Phillips there is a "gap" in the law around extremism.

He said: "We don't have a body of law to deal with extremism and that is creating a gap."

There has been criticism that a small minority of individuals taking part in recent pro-Palestinian rallies in the UK have engaged in pro-Hamas chants or waved Hamas flags.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 8,000 people have been killed since the Hamas attacks on 7 October. More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, officials there have said.
