Israel-Hamas war: Deputy PM argues for a 'pause' for humanitarian aid delivery

Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden says that the government is calling for a 'pause' on military action in Gaza to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Mr Dowden drew a distinction between that and a ceasefire which the UK is not calling for, which would imply a complete cessation of military action between Israel and Hamas.

He reiterated that "Israel has a right to defend itself", and said that "Hamas terrorists" were the only people responsible for the loss of life in Israel.
