Speaking in Ottawa on Wednesday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of amplifying “disinformation” about the deadly explosion at a Gaza hospital.

“Does he agree with President Biden that the offending missile originated with terrorists in Gaza?” Poilievre asked.

Government House Leader Karina Gould responded by saying that Canada has been “unequivocal” in condemning the Hamas attacks against Israeli citizens, while also calling on all parties to “observe international law.” Gould added that “Our hearts go out to the innocent Palestinian victims that have died as result of this attack, and we will continue to work with partners around the world to call for a humanitarian corridor.”

Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman also questioned whether the relationship between the federal government and its ‘Five Eyes’ allies is “damaged,” saying that Canada has not been briefed on intelligence reports.

The Hamas militant group has blamed Israel for the Tuesday blast at the al-Ahli Hospital – saying nearly 500 people died – while Israel blamed a rocket misfired by other Palestinian militants. Public outrage over the hospital carnage spread through the Middle East as U.S. President Joe Biden landed in Israel in hopes of preventing a wider conflict in the region.
