As Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen battle each other throughout Gaza, efforts to strike a ceasefire deal have picked up pace.

But Israel's Prime Minister says a truce would only delay the ground assault on Rafah, and once it begins, total victory is just "weeks away".

This, as the war in Gaza continues to fuel instability elsewhere in the region, with US and UK forces again striking Houthi targets across Yemen.
