Is the UK set for another era of austerity?

The International Monetary Fund is predicting that few advanced economies will see weaker growth than the UK next year.

And the Institute for Fiscal Studies says that the government must find £62bn to stabilise the national debt.

The warnings come on a day the Bank of England was again forced to intervene to calm market jitters.
