On International Women's Day, thousands of protesters around the world rallied against gender inequity on Wednesday. According to its official website, the theme of International Women’s Day 2023 was “Embrace Equity.”

In Colombo, Sri Lanka, demonstrators demanded the government protect women's rights and also protested rising inflation. Meanwhile, in Manila, Philippines, about 300 activists marked Women’s Day by urging the government to improve the labour situation of female workers with a protest near the presidential palace. In Jakarta, Indonesia, about 100 protesters rallied for International Women's Day, demanding equal rights for women labourers, including those of domestic workers.

Turning to Europe, in Barcelona, Spain, demonstrators marched through the streets, holding banners. Parisian women took to the streets to protest the French government’s pension reform plan, which they say would disproportionately affect women.

And in London, U.K. as well as Berlin, Germany, women protested the rights of Iranian women, following the death of Mahsa Amini by the so-called morality police for what they deemed was improper donning of her hijab.
