While Canadians saw budget relief with inflation dropping slightly last month, Americans are still looking for a break, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

In an eye-opening speech this week, U.S. Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell warned consumers will experience more pain before things get better, with additional interest rate hikes still to come.

Financial experts say now is the time to pay down what you owe in order to try and find some relief. Jennifer Johnson explains.
