An Indonesian court commenced proceedings on Monday against a number of police officers and football match organizers, who are facing charges of criminal negligence for their involvement in one of the world's most devastating football stadium stampedes in Java last October.
135 people were killed in the disaster, which occurred after a football match at Kanjuruhan stadium in the city of Malang last October.

Al Jazeera’s Jessica Washington reports from Jakarta, Indonesia.
