Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited the site of a deadly earthquake for a second time on Thursday and said evacuating people and distributing aid were a priority.

Authorities struggled to get supplies to thousands of people displaced by the quake in western Java, as rain-triggered landslides and difficult mountainous terrain hampered rescue teams.

"At the shelter, there are many children, elderly people who have started to get sick," survivor Yosa Sukma Permana said.

The 5.6-magnitude earthquake on Monday in the town of Cianjur, about 75 km south of the capital Jakarta, killed at least 272 people and left thousands sheltering in tents with scant medical and aid supplies.
