250 million (!) people came out against a new farming law in India, marking the rally as one of the biggest strikes in the country’s history. The capital city of New Delhi saw some violence as protesters clashed with police who retaliated with water cannons and tear gas. The law in question has scrapped minimum prices for crops and helped corporations negotiate prices directly with farmers. Indian PM Modi insists the new rules will benefit farmers.
