Illegal Migration Bill: 'UK is fourth largest recipient of asylum seeks', says immigration minister

The government's legislation to stop illegal migration via small boats in the Channel is back in the Commons for the report stage and its third reading.

It would give the Home Secretary broad powers to return illegal migrants to their country of origin or send them to Rwanda.

A number of amendments had been tabled by Tory backbenchers, but, as Sky News chief political correspondent Jon Craig says, it looks like the Conservatives might avoid a big rebellion.
