Colombia residents are urging tourists to return in a bid to help the country's economy after Hurricane Iota and Hurricane Eta pummeled the region this month, leaving fallen trees and damaged buildings across many areas, including on the once-idyllic San Andres island in the Caribbean Sea.
Iota hit this past week, bringing storm surge and high winds on Nov. 16, just a few days after Hurricane Eta hit the region.
A hotel owner in San Andres, Jimmy Gordon, appealed both for tourists to return and for government assistance, saying that the tourism industry was "in a crisis."
Iota killed approximately 40 people across Central America and Colombia.
