Hurricane Idalia makes landfall

Hurricane Idalia is expected to hit the northwest coast of Florida, with the state governor warning people not to venture outside.

More than 54,000 households are without power, with 100,000 already having been restored.

The authorities have warned the deadliest threat it poses are storm surges and king tides.
