Eagles centre Jason Kelce held an emotional news conference on Monday to announce that he was officially retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons with Philadelphia.

Fighting back tears, he reflected on his professional football career, from the initial draft call that started it all, to the fire that fuelled him on the field.

"It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here. I have been the underdog, my entire career... Few things gave me more joy than proving someone wrong."
