Although it is an immense honour no parent wants, each year the Silver Cross Mother represents every mother who has lost a son or daughter in military service.

For this coming Remembrance Day, Josée Simard from Les Méchins, Quebec will be bearing the title, as she honours her daughter Corporal Karine Blais. At 21 years old, Blais was killed in Afghanistan in April 2009, after the armored vehicle she was driving was hit by an IED.

Mike Armstrong explains how Simard always feels her daughter's presence and how the village of Les Méchins is remembering the soldier.
